Stieber was founded in Munich in 1937 and is currently a medium-sized enterprise with approximately 140 employees working at manufacturing facilities in Heidelberg and Garching near Munich. The company's main activity is the development and production of drive elements for mechanical engineering systems, specifically overrunning clutches and stops that transmit torque through friction. Throughout its history, Stieber has achieved significant success by implementing innovative developments that have established it as a leader in the European market. For example, it designed and developed the largest travel limit in the world, which is successfully used even in the most demanding conditions. Stieber is part of the Altra Industrial Motion Group and, together with its subsidiaries Formsprag and Marland (USA), holds a leading position in the global market for overrunning clutches and stops. The company boasts an extensive service network comprising over 1,000 distributors and technical centers, ensuring proximity to its customers.
