American Roller Bearing Company was founded in 1911 by K.F. Succop and several investors. The company's first manufacturing plant was located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
In the early years, as well as throughout the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s, American produced bearings for heavy industrial equipment, including bearings used by the U.S. military in World War I and World War II.
Over time, K.F.'s son, W.G. Succop, gradually bought out the remaining investors and gained control of the company in the mid-1950s. Today, the family still owns and manages 100% of the company's shares.
For over 100 years, American has been manufacturing high-quality rolling bearings for thousands of types of industrial equipment, used in the following sectors:
- Power Generation
- Mining and Rock Crushing
- Primary Metals and Rolling Mills
- Oilfield Equipment
- Construction Equipment
- Railroads
- Gearing
- Corrugated Box and Paper Manufacturing
- Wind Energy
Today, American is headquartered in Hickory, North Carolina, and operates three manufacturing facilities in the state.
For over a century, we have been committed to producing the best product. Our bearings today are our best yet, and tomorrow will bring further improvements leading to even more advanced bearings.
