KRW Leipzig — Over a Century of German Tradition, Quality, and Innovation

The history of KRW Leipzig dates back to 1904, when, under the name Deutsche Kugellagerfabrik (DKF), the company began developing and manufacturing high-quality rolling bearings in Leipzig-Plagwitz. In 1934, the company was restructured as a limited liability company and moved to its current location in Böhlitz-Ehrenberg, Leipzig. Shortly after resuming production in the new facilities, DKF received a significant order from Deutsche Lufthansa to equip all its aircraft diesel engines with high-quality DKF bearings. This boosted production volumes and secured up to 1,500 jobs.

In the mid-1940s, due to political changes, the company was managed by Russian authorities for a total of 10 years. In 1955, DKF became VEB DKF Wälzlagerwerk Leipzig, a state-owned enterprise of the former German Democratic Republic. Over the next 45 years, the company’s first-class rolling bearings earned an excellent international reputation and were supplied worldwide.

After German reunification in 1990, the company joined the FAG Group. In 1993, Kugel- und Rollenlagerwerk Leipzig GmbH (KRW) was founded. Today, on a production area of almost 14,000 m², high-quality rolling bearings are manufactured under the brand “KRW – Made in Germany.”

With more than 100 years of experience and continuous sales growth over the past decade, KRW Leipzig has established itself as a respected brand in the development, production, and marketing of bearing products for a wide range of industries — including heavy industry, rail & transportation, energy & power plants, machine construction, as well as shipbuilding & port technology.
