AKF Kugelfischer Georg Schäfer & Co in Schweinfurt is the company that later became known as FAG Kugelfischer, and eventually became part of the Schaeffler Group.
Founded in 1883 by Friedrich Fischer, the company gained worldwide recognition through the invention of the first ball grinding machine, which enabled the mass production of precision ball bearings.

Later acquired by Georg Schäfer and renamed FAG Kugelfischer Georg Schäfer & Co, the company evolved into what is now FAG, one of the world’s leading bearing manufacturers, serving a wide range of industries.
