The British Motor Corporation Limited (BMC) was a British automotive manufacturer that emerged in early 1952 as a result of the merger between two legendary companies — Morris and Austin. BMC brought together the assets of Morris Motors and the Austin Motor Company, along with renowned brands such as MG, Riley, and Wolseley, previously owned by the Nuffield Organization. By April 1952, the share exchange was completed, and BMC officially began operations.

In September 1965, BMC acquired one of its key body suppliers, Pressed Steel, gaining full control over body manufacturing, including bodies for Jaguar. A year later, in September 1966, Jaguar Cars itself joined BMC. In December 1966, the company changed its name to British Motor Holdings Limited (BMH). In May 1968, BMH merged with Leyland Motor Corporation Limited, known for its trucks and buses and for owning Standard-Triumph International Limited. This merger gave rise to the iconic British Leyland.
