The story of Kongskilde began with the ambition of two young colleagues — 30-year-old Mogens Petersen and 26-year-old Hans Tyndeskov — to launch their own company. Both already had technical and administrative education, a few years of experience, and combined know-how, diligence, talent, and strong personalities. Their bond extended beyond work — they were friends, played football for the same team, and later became family when Hans married Mogens’s sister.

Before starting the company, Mogens had already designed a grain blower to mechanize the hard work of moving sacks of grain after threshing on Danish farms — before combine harvesters were common. To realize their idea, both partners borrowed DKK 15,000 each against their life insurance policies and rented a small former cement works from Mogens’s father for DKK 75 per month. This very building is still part of Kongskilde’s modern 35,000 m² complex in Sorø, Denmark.

They started out with a single employee and only one product — the very first grain blower, which was successfully tested on a neighboring farm and sold to a local farmer. The next batch of three machines was also quickly sold in the area. That’s how Kongskilde’s journey began.

The first years were a period of exciting growth: new products, more employees, new buildings, and rapid establishment of export activities — something truly unique in this industry. Despite occasional challenges, the company always bounced back, and its drive and international expansion have become the hallmark of Kongskilde.
