Ford was a major manufacturer of farm tractors for much of the 20th century. The Ford name was first used on tractors in 1939 with the introduction of the 9N model, although the Fordson brand had already been in use for over 20 years. In 1964, the European Fordson and U.S. Ford brands were consolidated into a global tractor line. In 1985, Ford acquired New Holland, creating the Ford-New Holland line. In 1990, Ford’s farm equipment group was sold to Fiat, which began phasing out the Ford name. Today, production continues under the New Holland brand. |
