Athens Plow Company was founded in 1921 by Elbert L. Willson and was managed by William P. Willson and James H. Willson until its sale to Rhino Products in 1973. William L. Willson, the founder’s grandson, stayed on as Plant Manager for Servis-Rhino. In 1985, operations were moved to Dallas, Texas, and in 1988 the Alamo Group decided to exit the tillage equipment business. By that time, the Athens, Tennessee plant had been closed, with production first moved to Dallas and then to Holton, Kansas.

Seeing an opportunity he couldn’t pass up, William Willson, along with local investors, bought the business, transported the equipment back to Athens, and restarted operations at the original plant in the spring of 1988. Today, ATHENS manufactures 22 models of tillage tools, including chisel plows, levee plows, and a wide variety of disc harrows. Known for exceptional service and unmatched availability, ATHENS typically ships disc harrow orders within 24–48 hours. With dealer inventory positioned across the United States, ATHENS stands as one of the few, if not the only, tillage companies offering immediate availability. For personal communication, dependable service, and quality products, make ATHENS your tillage choice.
