The New Departure‑Hyatt Bearings Division traces its roots to the New Departure Manufacturing Company, a ball bearing producer that became part of General Motors. At its peak, New Departure produced nearly 75% of all ball bearings used by U.S. industry and about 50% worldwide. The operation was eventually renamed the New Departure‑Hyatt Division.
