NTN Corporation (Japan) was founded in 1918 and is one of the largest manufacturers of bearings in the world, ranking second in Japan, with the broadest range of products. The company's name derives from the initials of its founders:
The company's history began in 1922 after a Swedish ship carrying a cargo of bearings sank in the port of Kobe. The bearings were sold at an auction by an insurance company to Mr. Noboru Niwa, who resold them and used the proceeds to purchase three lathe machines. Together with Hiro Nishizono, he started manufacturing bearings. Today, NTN Corporation has over 20,000 employees, 72 sales offices, and an annual turnover of approximately $6.9 billion. The company is part of the Sojitz Corporation financial group and operates more than 55 manufacturing facilities worldwide, including in the USA, Canada, Germany, France, China, Thailand, and others. Additionally, NTN has 18 research and development centers in Japan, the USA, and Germany. |
