BEARING

In mechanical engineering and technology, the term “bearing” usually refers to a component that supports a rotating shaft or axle, allowing it to move with minimal friction.
There are different types of bearings, including:

  • rolling-element bearings — ball bearings and roller bearings, where friction is reduced by rolling elements;
  • plain bearings (sleeve or journal bearings) — where the shaft rotates directly within a lubricated support surface.

Bearings are among the most essential machine elements, ensuring durability, reliability, and efficient operation of mechanisms.
